CLINQ v1.1 has been
released. Some of you may
have already downloaded
some of the new builds,
but here's a rundown of
what the new release
includes: Support for
Continuous Aggregation.
Now, in addition to being
able to have your result
sets automatically update
themselves in response to
changes in the source set
as well as changes to
items in the source set,
you can have aggregate
scalar values that
continuously update in
the same fashion. The
following is a list of
the supported aggregation
types that can now be
done continuously:
Requirements impact every
step of the development
lifecycle, from design
and coding to testing and
deployment. Thus, the
process of defining and
managing requirements has
become one of the most
important challenges to
overcome when building
software. Because
requirements have such an
impact downstream, it's
no surprise that so many
studies cite inaccurate,
incomplete, and
mismanaged requirements
as the primary reason for
project failure.

Do you find yourself
tired after sitting in
meetings all day? Do you
have feelings of
uselessness after weeks
of bug fixing? Do you
often find yourself
feeling lonely, as if
you've lost touch with
your team and the status
of your project? Are you
frustrated by frequent
fire drills and the sense
that your project is in
utter chaos? Are you
hopelessly lost in a sea
of changing policies and
procedures with no end in
sight?

This article presents a
new approach to
aspect-oriented
programming (AOP) - an
advanced programming
paradigm and technology
that supports the
separation, design,
implementation, location,
and updating of
crosscutting concerns
implemented as aspects.
The most common AOP tools
- AspectJ, HyperJ, etc.,
contain a lot of AOP
foundation ideas and
useful features, but they
are focused on Java
technology and are
currently available as
AOP extensions of Java.
After a quarter of a
million lines of code had
been written, the
application was ready for
testing. The testers,
however, came back with
their results alleging
poor application quality.
A plan had to be
developed and executed
quickly to address this
feedback. However, the
eleven-person development
team was confronted with
further challenges: code
had to be revised due to
an oversight regarding
requirements and
application issues, new
functionalities had to be
added resulting from
change requests, and the
finished product had to
be delivered soon.
Over the past few years,
IT organizations have
chosen between two
primary application
development and
deployment architectures.
However, with the advent
of the .NET Framework,
there is now a new
alternative called 'smart
clients'.
Imagine that you have
built a large enterprise
application after
carrying out extensive
requirement studies. Just
before the delivery, the
client informs you that
some of the business
rules need to be changed.
What do you do? Modify
the business objects?
Change the stored
procedures?
Aspect-oriented
programming (AOP) is a
new programming paradigm
that supports software
component reuse and
modification. Each
application can be
regarded as a collection
of implementations of
ideas or concerns.
