Microsoft Longhorn Tools Available

Microsoft has made a free download available at its download center of a Longhorn toolkit that enables developers to write Avalon and Indigo applications. Ari Bixhorn, a web services strategy executive at Microsoft, said a beta of the Longhorn client version will be available by autumn. To be known as Beta 1 Release Candidate, it will include programming tools for InfoCard, Redmond's identity management strategy for Longhorn.

Bixhorn spoke recently about Microsoft's web services strategy at SYS-CON's Web Services Edge conference in Boston. His remarks can be found on SYS-CON.TV.
