Increasingly, a businesses competitive advantage is gained by processing large flows of raw data into insights. Large Internet services such as Yahoo!, who face a torrent of incoming data from their click-streams, recognized these limits years ago and built cloud-based tools such as Hadoop that can scale horizontally to address this growth.

Weltman's session will provide an overview of Hadoop’s map-reduce framework and will describe the analytical applications running on Yahoo!'s Hadoop infrastructure to showcase the wide-range of applications that can be addressed by the tool.
