How to Record Calls on Your Windows Smartphone

One of the last things that I keep my Palm 650 for is it's ability to record calls, handy when you are having a conference call

One of the last things that I keep my Palm 650 for is it's ability to record calls, which is very handy when you are having a conference call and need to review your call later or take notes -of course always ensure you ask the people you are speaking to whether they are OK with this! To date I've never found a product that could do this easily and efficiently on Windows Mobile.

The Palm 650 does this painlessly and seamlessly using a product called CallRec by QMobileSoft.

Now It is a pain switching the SIM backwards and forwards when I want to do this so I have kept my eye on the Smartphone  market as relates Call Recording.  I wanted a product to work with my HTC S710 and to that end the first product I came across that looked like it would solve this issue for me was Vito Audio Notes .  This should have been just as easy as clicking CallRec on the options which would have automatically started call

recording whenever I dialed or had an incoming call.  Unfortunately this did not work for me as is appears that the HTC S710 is one of the devices that has hardware restrictions as appertaining to Call Recording.  If you have a windows mobile device though I would check this out as it was a slick product bar this issue which is specific to my device.

RescoAudioRecorderI was almost on the point of giving up when I came across Resco Audio Recorder .  Again this has an automatic recording facility for inbound and outbound calls which in this case works.  The one issue however is that if using the phone in normal handset mode you can hardly hear the other person on the phone in the recording.  However if you have the phone in speaker mode it works like a charm.  The quality is good and th recording is in MP3 (as with Vito Audio Notes) so you can store many recordings if you have a decent storage card. Again this is with my HTC S710, it may well work fine with other Windows Mobile devices.RA2

I should give an honorable mention to  PMRecorder which although takes some setting up has been the best freeware (although there is now a monthly service fee) solution for recording calls on a PPC/WM albeit in a propreitary format.

If you are using the Symbian OS there are plenty of call recorders for base series 60, the 2nd Edition and 3rd Edition OS's, including CallRecorder Pro

IoT & Smart Cities Stories
Contextual Analytics of various threat data provides a deeper understanding of a given threat and enables identification of unknown threat vectors. In his session at @ThingsExpo, David Dufour, Head of Security Architecture, IoT, Webroot, Inc., discussed how through the use of Big Data analytics and deep data correlation across different threat types, it is possible to gain a better understanding of where, how and to what level of danger a malicious actor poses to an organization, and to determin...
The hierarchical architecture that distributes "compute" within the network specially at the edge can enable new services by harnessing emerging technologies. But Edge-Compute comes at increased cost that needs to be managed and potentially augmented by creative architecture solutions as there will always a catching-up with the capacity demands. Processing power in smartphones has enhanced YoY and there is increasingly spare compute capacity that can be potentially pooled. Uber has successfully ...
The deluge of IoT sensor data collected from connected devices and the powerful AI required to make that data actionable are giving rise to a hybrid ecosystem in which cloud, on-prem and edge processes become interweaved. Attendees will learn how emerging composable infrastructure solutions deliver the adaptive architecture needed to manage this new data reality. Machine learning algorithms can better anticipate data storms and automate resources to support surges, including fully scalable GPU-c...
We are seeing a major migration of enterprises applications to the cloud. As cloud and business use of real time applications accelerate, legacy networks are no longer able to architecturally support cloud adoption and deliver the performance and security required by highly distributed enterprises. These outdated solutions have become more costly and complicated to implement, install, manage, and maintain.SD-WAN offers unlimited capabilities for accessing the benefits of the cloud and Internet. ...

As IoT continues to increase momentum, so does the associated risk. Secure Device Lifecycle Management (DLM) is ranked as one of the most important technology areas of IoT. Driving this trend is the realization that secure support for IoT devices provides companies the ability to deliver high-quality, reliable, secure offerings faster, create new revenue streams, and reduce support costs, all while building a competitive advantage in their markets. In this session, we will use customer use cases...
Machine learning has taken residence at our cities' cores and now we can finally have "smart cities." Cities are a collection of buildings made to provide the structure and safety necessary for people to function, create and survive. Buildings are a pool of ever-changing performance data from large automated systems such as heating and cooling to the people that live and work within them. Through machine learning, buildings can optimize performance, reduce costs, and improve occupant comfort by ...

Poor data quality and analytics drive down business value. In fact, Gartner estimated that the average financial impact of poor data quality on organizations is $9.7 million per year. But bad data is much more than a cost center. By eroding trust in information, analytics and the business decisions based on these, it is a serious impediment to digital transformation.
