Click to Tweet: Veeam Announces Inaugural Conference, VeeamON: The World’s Premier Data Center Availability Event in Las Vegas Oct. 6 – 8 #VeeamON2014

Veeam® Software, innovative provider of solutions that deliver Availability for the Modern Data Center, today announced VeeamON: The World’s Premier Data Center Availability Event, which will be held October 6 – 8 at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas. Veeam will host three days of activities, including general sessions, executive keynotes and deep-dives into the Veeam product line, as well as a customer showcase and an interactive expo lounge.

VeeamON is expected to attract more than 1,000 industry-leading experts, Veeam customers and partners, and IT professionals who will have the opportunity to learn first-hand how to enable the Always-On Business™. Platinum sponsors Cisco, HP Storage, Microsoft, NetApp and VMware will join more than 20 other Silver and Gold sponsors, including CDW, Ingram Micro Inc. and Arrow Electronics, Inc.

“VeeamON is the premier data center availability event, bringing together for the first time thought leaders, industry experts, and IT professionals from all over the world to immerse themselves in the latest in modern data center availability technology,” said Ratmir Timashev, CEO of Veeam. “The new era of the modern data center brings new challenges, but with the much anticipated launch of the new Veeam Availability Suite™ v8 later this year, we can do what legacy data protection and backup systems never could: Veeam provides Availability for the Modern Data Center to enable the Always-On Business. For the first time, IT can achieve recovery time and point objectives (RTPO™) of less than 15 minutes for all applications and data. At VeeamON, we will be able to connect directly with customers, partners and industry leaders to explore the new era of modern data center challenges and how we’ll all work together to solve them.”

Timashev will share the keynote stage with Alexis Ohanian, entrepreneur and co-founder of Reddit, a top-50 US website. Now a Reddit board member, Ohanian focuses his time and energy on founding and investing in companies that fit his model of “making something people love and making the world suck less.”

Industry-leading analysts from Gartner, Forrester Research, Inc. and Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG) will be featured at VeeamON as speakers, presenters and facilitators.

“It is impossible to imagine a modern data center that isn’t highly virtualized, regardless of whether that infrastructure lives on an enterprise’s raised floor, an SMB’s back closet, or in a cloud provider,” said Jason Buffington, senior analyst at ESG. “Not coincidentally, data protection and assured availability demands have never been higher. Veeam is known for its innovation, so I am excited to be a part of VeeamON 2014 where so many protection and availability experts will come together under one roof.”

“Veeam has been an integral part of our DR strategy and success, and we are honored to be a part of their first VeeamON event,” said William Dalton, IT Director at TrendMicro. “We look forward to joining the Veeam team and our peers to share our experiences and gain insight into how Veeam’s solutions can deliver on the promise of the 24-7 data center.”

VeeamON offers attendees three content tracks – Technical, Business and Partner - and more than 55 breakout sessions. Content tracks will focus on emerging market trends, industry predictions, product deep-dives, best practices and more. Veeam will also offer hands-on labs, training and certification onsite during VeeamON, including:

  • Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE): A technical deep-dive course that provides extensive information on Veeam solutions and documents that ensures an engineer possesses the necessary level of expertise to correctly architect, implement and configure Veeam Software solutions. VeeamON 2014 attendees are eligible for significant discounts (see pricing information below) for VMCE courses and vouchers for VMCE certification exams.
  • Veeam Lab Warz: This onsite, hands-on competition is based on individual knowledge of Veeam technologies and best practices. Engineers and IT professionals are invited to take the Veeam Lab Warz challenge during VeeamON where winners will take home $10,000 and earn the distinction of the best Veeam engineer in the world.

“As a Gold Veeam Cloud Provider, we’re excited to attend VeeamON for both business and technical reasons,” said Matthew Chesteron, CEO of OffsiteDataSync. ”OffsiteDataSync has had great success with Veeam and providing Veeam-powered hosted offsite data center availability solutions to our customers. We’re also happy to be a sponsor of this event and to be able to host a tour of our company’s Las Vegas data center to select VeeamON attendees.”

Registration is available online at http://go.veeam.com/veeamon. Priced at $599, regular registration for the three-day event also includes event meals and access to the VeeamON 2014 Attendee Party on Tuesday, October 7. With the purchase of a regular VeeamON 2014 registration, attendees can purchase the VMCE course at a discounted rate of $650 USD. Classes will take place onsite during the event on Oct. 7, 8 and 9. Attendees will then receive a voucher to take the VMCE Certification Exam at a later date at no additional charge.

The Internet of Things will challenge the status quo of how IT and development organizations operate. Or will it? Certainly the fog layer of IoT requires special insights about data ontology, security and transactional integrity. But the developmental challenges are the same: People, Process and Platform and how we integrate our thinking to solve complicated problems. In his session at 19th Cloud Expo, Craig Sproule, CEO of Metavine, will demonstrate how to move beyond today's coding paradigm ...
The cloud market growth today is largely in public clouds. While there is a lot of spend in IT departments in virtualization, these aren’t yet translating into a true “cloud” experience within the enterprise. What is stopping the growth of the “private cloud” market? In his general session at 18th Cloud Expo, Nara Rajagopalan, CEO of Accelerite, explored the challenges in deploying, managing, and getting adoption for a private cloud within an enterprise. What are the key differences between wh...

"We work in the area of Big Data analytics and Big Data analytics is a very crowded space - you have Hadoop, ETL, warehousing, visualization and there's a lot of effort trying to get these tools to talk to each other," explained Mukund Deshpande, head of the Analytics practice at Accelerite, in this SYS-CON.tv interview at 18th Cloud Expo, held June 7-9, 2016, at the Javits Center in New York City, NY.
The idea of comparing data in motion (at the sensor level) to data at rest (in a Big Data server warehouse) with predictive analytics in the cloud is very appealing to the industrial IoT sector. The problem Big Data vendors have, however, is access to that data in motion at the sensor location. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Scott Allen, CMO of FreeWave, discussed how as IoT is increasingly adopted by industrial markets, there is going to be an increased demand for sensor data from the outermos...

In addition to all the benefits, IoT is also bringing new kind of customer experience challenges - cars that unlock themselves, thermostats turning houses into saunas and baby video monitors broadcasting over the internet. This list can only increase because while IoT services should be intuitive and simple to use, the delivery ecosystem is a myriad of potential problems as IoT explodes complexity. So finding a performance issue is like finding the proverbial needle in the haystack.
When people aren’t talking about VMs and containers, they’re talking about serverless architecture. Serverless is about no maintenance. It means you are not worried about low-level infrastructural and operational details. An event-driven serverless platform is a great use case for IoT. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Animesh Singh, an STSM and Lead for IBM Cloud Platform and Infrastructure, will detail how to build a distributed serverless, polyglot, microservices framework using open source tec...
