Univention App Center Ecosystem Expands With New Integrated Turnkey Enterprise Applications

Often Complicated, Complex Enterprise Apps Now Inexpensive, Simple to Install and Maintain

BOSTON, MA -- (Marketwired) -- 08/06/14 -- Univention GmbH, the leading European provider of open source IT infrastructure management solutions, today announced the addition of several new apps to its popular Univention App Center. Univention App Center is a marketplace for all available Univention Corporate Server (UCS) components and extensions, as well as a wide selection of software apps for business IT.

The newest additions to the App Center represent popular enterprise apps from vendors in the US, Switzerland, Russia, and France, including ownCloud, Inc, 7iSolutions AG, Mandriva SA, and Kaspersky Labs.

The App Center is a hub for enterprise software that is often complicated to install, integrate and maintain. Now these apps can be easily integrated from within the App Center, enabling integrated management with UCS, and simplifying the integration of apps into enterprise environments using Microsoft Active Directory. Pre-configured turnkey Apps are available immediately in the Univention Management Console and ready to use. This allows the central administration of identities on a domain level and omits separated identity management within each single application, e.g., user data for different services. Just as with UCS, Univention App Center can be used on premises, in the cloud or in hybrid scenarios. Benefiting Univention's partners as well, the App Center integrated marketplace allows the direct purchase of the applications from any company within the ecosystem.

Univention Corporate Server
Univention Corporate Server is an inexpensive way to provide businesses with server applications and entire IT infrastructures. UCS is based on open source infrastructure ideal for distributed, heterogeneous and virtualized IT environments, such as Microsoft Windows, OS X and Linux systems.

Unlike other Linux operating systems, UCS provides an integrated identity and infrastructure management system. UCS also provides provisioning of infrastructure services for the central, cross-location and cross platform administration of virtualized server and desktop systems. The user-friendly web interface makes administration simple and accessible from any client.
