DLNA® to Showcase Easy and Seamless Subscription TV Content Streaming Throughout the Home at ABTA 2014

WHAT:

Media and other attendees at ABTA 2014, the leading trade show for the cable and satellite business in Latin America, are invited to see demonstrations of products supporting DLNA’s CVP-2 Guidelines that enable users to easily and seamlessly view subscription TV content on multiple devices in the home.

Alliance Members are building products in preparation for the CVP-2 Guidelines Certification program, which DLNA will launch in the U.S. in September.

DLNA is engaging with Latin American service providers to discuss development of a CVP-2 profile for this region, using the same model followed by the U.S. cable industry. Service providers such as Cox, Comcast and Time Warner Cable have been working closely with members of the global consumer electronics product development ecosystem to develop and deploy the Guidelines in the U.S.

DLNA also will be demonstrating its base DLNA Guidelines that have been used to create one of the world’s largest ecosystems of interoperable networked entertainment and media devices.

According to Dataxis, Latin American service providers reached 63.7 million pay TV subscribers by the end of the first quarter of 2014, and the firm expected further strong growth in the second quarter driven by World Cup demand.

WHY:

Latin America is a prime market for DLNA’s new CVP-2 Guidelines, which enhance and extend the digital lifestyle by enabling consumers to enjoy their service providers’ full subscriber experiences on many different screens in the home. CVP-2 Guidelines are the first from DLNA to be made available to the public for free download. Users of CVP-2 Certified products will be able to stream service providers’ pay TV, video on demand and live TV content throughout the home with the full subscriber experience.

We are reaching the end of the beginning with WebRTC and real systems using this technology have begun to appear. One challenge that faces every WebRTC deployment (in some form or another) is identity management.
