IndependenceIT Recognized by 451 Research for Private-Label Desktop-as-a-Service Enablement

IndependenceIT today announced it has been featured by 451 Research in a new Impact Report titled, “IndependenceIT Gains Momentum with its Private Label Desktop-as-a-Service Platform.” In the report, the company’s Cloud Workspace Suite platform was noted for built-in multi-tenancy, its own global service broker, simple interface, the elimination of complex management tasks, and a service provider delivery model with cloud/hypervisor agnostic deployment.

The June 2014 report examines Cloud Workspace Suite, a complete cloud-based application and desktop-as-a-service enablement platform, giving IT professionals unprecedented ease of deployment and management. Beyond the ordinary virtual desktop, CWS provides an integrated online experience that incorporates business applications and corporate file systems into a single interface using a full-featured Microsoft Windows desktop from anywhere and on any device. Organizations retain complete control, security and compliance oversight through an intuitive browser-based management system that increases service quality and improves responsiveness for lower help desk support costs.

According to the report, the small business and mid-market is still generally underserved, hard for most other companies to tackle, and therefore a good place for IndependenceIT to be – the product enables desktop services to be set up with a small capital outlay. An underlying API layer makes the product extensible and enables service provider customers to white-label their offerings. The underlying technical model is server-based session computing, which avoids the licensing challenges surrounding VDI. It is also more efficient, more scalable and easier to manage.

“The key focus of IndependenceIT is to deploy and manage application delivery and DaaS environments so that end-users can connect from any device and any location, while maintaining compliance, security, legal and industry requirements,” said John Abbott, analyst for 451 Research. “The front-end system has been designed to be easy to use, and there are over 700 certified applications that can be rapidly enabled on customer license validation. But a lot of the functionality is also aimed at the service providers that operate it, in order to control IT operating expenses and reduce capital expenditure.”

Capabilities provided in IndependenceIT’s Cloud Workspace Suite include complete cloud workspace delivery, including desktops, applications, back office systems and directory/user management. The software provides the ability to run large-scale workloads on high-performance, scalable, highly secure and reliable virtual machines hosted on the service provider’s cloud infrastructure of choice. All Cloud Workspace instances across multiple locations can be accessed and managed through a single management interface for maximum efficiency.

With an expanded management team of industry veterans, IndependenceIT’s booked seat increase in the first five months of 2014 is in excess of 330 percent and the company’s partner ecosystem has increased more than 220 percent. New partners include Arrow Electronics, EarthLink, GCI and Verio. In 2014, the company expanded its position as the industry’s only “Bring your Own Cloud” DaaS enabler with Microsoft Azure and Google Compute Engine integration.
