HealthPERX Adds Video Consult Kiosks to Its Telehealth Platform

Birmingham, AL, June 04, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Telehealth is rapidly emerging as one of the more innovative solutions to many of the today’s healthcare challenges. There is a growing trend toward higher deductible plans and greater use of insurance exchanges, turning healthcare into a consumer driven industry.

Businesses continue to restructure benefit plans. Smaller businesses are moving away from group insurance to defined contribution plans, in which they contribute a fixed amount of money to their employees and allow them to choose their own insurance coverage. Larger companies who are self-funded are increasing co-pays and deductibles. These kiosks essentially act as an “on-premise physician” for a fraction of the cost of a doctor’s office visit by allowing employees to log in to their telehealth account, see a doctor on a 21” HD video screen, and get a diagnosis and treatment while they are at work. The kiosks also allow the patient to edit electronic health records and use interactive biometric instruments for their medical consult. The kiosk includes blood pressure cuff, thermometer, pulse oximeter, scale and other devices that do not require the assistance of any medical personnel.

HealthPERX offers these kiosks to companies using their telehealth services at no up-front cost with only a nominal monthly charge added to their existing services. By using the kiosk, employees have quick and easy access to doctors, thus building greater awareness and increasing utilization. One of the goals of having a Telehealth Kiosk in the workplace, is less sick days and decreased healthcare costs.
