Carena’s ANYTIME 1.5 Platform Increases the Integration and Throughput of Virtual Clinics

Today, Seattle-based Carena, Inc. launched a major upgrade to its telemedicine software platform, improving integration with local hospital systems and provider clinics. Carena’s ANYTIME 1.5 platform creates a health system-integrated virtual clinic that goes beyond just enabling consultations via phone or video chat. The announcement was made at the American Telemedicine Association conference on May 19th in Baltimore, Maryland.

“We believe that telemedicine is best provided in concert with the care of local providers and systems that people trust,” said Ralph C. Derrickson, CEO of Carena, Inc. “We’ve proven that our virtual care model integrates well with health systems, and we’re excited to offer this next evolution in our telemedicine services.”

Carena’s ANYTIME 1.5 platform offers a design that supports mobile browsers and facilitates a virtual exam room with integrated video capabilities. It features configurable workflow views for patients and clinics, as well as image upload and linking capabilities. Carena’s ANYTIME 1.5 platform also streamlines virtual care and creates a great patient experience. New mobile browser accommodation allows virtual “house calls” on the patients’ terms via tablets and smart phones, no matter the location or time.

The upgrade is being released at a time when consumers are actively shopping for high quality solutions that make sense in their new world of high deductible health plans (HDHP’s), exchanges and insurance requirements as a result of the Affordable Care Act. A recent report by PricewaterhouseCoopers examined the new health care consumer and found that 82 percent of consumers are ready to receive care in new ways, including telemedicine.

At the same time, health system providers are bracing for the reported eight million new people entering the health insurance system. This flood of newly insured patients is projected to compel hospitals to seek out new solutions to manage substantially larger panels, ease wait times, and streamline provider workflow. Carena’s services have already been adopted by large health care providers, including Franciscan Health System and KentuckyOne Health.

“Doctors and Advance Practice Clinicians are facing ever-increasing demands on their time, which makes it difficult to learn new care delivery models,” said Dr. Cliff Robertson, CEO of Catholic Health Initiative’s (CHI) Nebraska/Southwest Iowa Network (formerly Alegent Creighton Health and CHI Nebraska ). “Carena’s dedicated medical group and upgraded platform enables health systems to implement a virtual clinic in less than 90 days without impacting their current clinical operations. This model allows organizations to develop their own virtual team in a timeframe that works for them.”

Carena’s new ANYTIME 1.5 platform features the following upgrades for an easier integration of telemedicine services within clinics’ current urgent care systems:

  • Improved clinical workflow views, reducing the time it takes to educate medical providers
  • Added ability for secure transmission of a patient’s image or video, improving the diagnosis process when video chat is not available
  • New Provider Visit Report design delivers patient information in a timely and secure manner to their regular provider
  • Updated Virtual Practice Guidelines, including expanded conditions that can be treated, ensuring consistent and quality care
  • Improved Member Support streamlines the admissions process

Today we can collect lots and lots of performance data. We build beautiful dashboards and even have fancy query languages to access and transform the data. Still performance data is a secret language only a couple of people understand. The more business becomes digital the more stakeholders are interested in this data including how it relates to business. Some of these people have never used a monitoring tool before. They have a question on their mind like “How is my application doing” but no id...

In today's uber-connected, consumer-centric, cloud-enabled, insights-driven, multi-device, global world, the focus of solutions has shifted from the product that is sold to the person who is buying the product or service. Enterprises have rebranded their business around the consumers of their products. The buyer is the person and the focus is not on the offering. The person is connected through multiple devices, wearables, at home, on the road, and in multiple locations, sometimes simultaneously...
