Le Cloud Computing est mort, vive le Cloud IT !

 

Cloud Computing written in cloudL’expression « Cloud Computing » est utilisée depuis 2007 ; 2007, c’est aussi l’année de naissance de ... Revevol !

Dans cette expression, le mot « Computing » est devenu trop restrictif, car il fait référence à une seule des dimensions des apports des solutions « Cloud », celle qui a trait à la puissance de calcul.

Aux Etats-Unis, l’expression « Cloud IT » remplace progressivement « Cloud Computing » ; c’est une bonne chose, car cela confirme que cette révolution a une dimension beaucoup plus large.

Ce problème ne se pose pas dans la langue française qui utilise l’expression « informatique dans les nuages ». Le mot informatique n’a pas d’équivalent direct en anglais et se traduit souvent par... IT, Information Technology. Au moins sur le plan de la linguistique, la France était en avance.

 

Cloud IT ?

Logo Cloud ITBasculer de Cloud Computing à Cloud IT est beaucoup plus qu’un simple changement de vocabulaire, c’est la reconnaissance que la révolution du « Cloud » touche maintenant toutes les facettes de l’informatique et des Systèmes d’Information : 

  • Infrastructures serveurs
  • Applications, usages
  • Sociétés de services
  • Equipes informatiques internes
  • Fournisseurs

La R2I, Révolution Industrielle Informatique, s’appuie beaucoup, mais pas exclusivement sur le Cloud IT. 

Cloud IT pentagon 5 dimensions
Je ne vais pas reprendre ici dans le détail des idées et des thèmes que j’ai déjà beaucoup développés dans ce blog.

Résumons-les en une seule phrase, pour chacune des cinq dimensions du Cloud IT :

  • Infrastructures serveurs : uniquement des clouds publics, jamais de cloud privé.
  • Applications, usages : priorité aux solutions SaaS et BPaaS, sur mesure dans le cas contraire.
  • Sociétés de services : la fin des projets mammouth, priorité aux projets d’ingénierie, courts, à forte valeur ajoutée.
  • Equipes internes : moins nombreuses, et avec de nouvelles compétences à acquérir.
  • Fournisseurs : prennent le virage Cloud IT ou disparaissent.

  

Cloud IT, l’essentiel des Systèmes d’Information, demain

Logo 2021En 2021, le Cloud IT ce sera imposé dans la très grande majorité des entreprises ; les petites et moyennes auront terminé cette mutation avant les plus grandes.

En 2021, il restera en France quelques centaines de grandes organisations qui auront encore des « centres de calcul privés », mais de taille très réduite par rapport à ceux qui existaient en 2013.

Ce sera en particulier le cas des entreprises qui utilisent encore des serveurs historiques, mainframe et iSeries IBM, serveurs Sun ou HP sous Unix. Les fournisseurs industriels d’infrastructures Cloud, Amazon, Google, Microsoft, ont tous fait l’impasse sur ces familles de serveurs.

EWeek mainframe 50 ansN’oublions pas que 96 des plus grandes banques et 9 des plus grands assureurs utilisent encore des serveurs Z d’IBM, comme le rappelle eWeek dans un texte qui célèbre le 50e anniversaire de cette famille de serveurs et le ... 55e anniversaire du Cobol.

En 2021, entre 60 % et 90 % du parc applicatif des entreprises auront été pris en charge par des solutions Cloud IT, SaaS ou BPaaS. Ne resteront, dans les grandes organisations, que les usages « cœur de métiers » vecteurs de compétitivité et pour lesquels les entreprises auront abandonné leurs ERP intégrés pour les remplacer par des applications développés sur mesure. 

Ces développements innovants utiliseront en priorité les outils « Open Source » proposés par les nouveaux leaders de l’offre informatique : Facebook, Google ou Amazon.

Ce sont quelques exemples des nouvelles compétences à acquérir d’urgence que j’évoquais plus haut.

Le Cloud IT, ce n’est que ... le Système d’Information de vos entreprises, demain.
