Virtustream xStream Optimizes VMware Environments

Enhances security and enables hybrid cloud environments

Virtustream on Tuesday announced that its cloud management software xStream™ can now be used to optimize VMware environments for mission-critical applications, enhance security and enable hybrid cloud environments.

"We continue to further enhance and optimize our cloud software offering," said Simon Aspinall, chief vertical markets, strategy and marketing officer at Virtustream. "Virtustream xStream is the leading platform for supporting production applications, such as ERP, CRM, DB, SCM and BI, in multi-tenant public clouds, and is key to maximizing the potential of the software-defined data center (SDDC)."

Virtustream reports that the xStream cloud management software, with its dynamic µVM (micro-VM) abstraction layer, reduces overhead expenditures by up to 40 percent and overall costs (hardware, licensing) by 25-30 percent; the solution also provides service level isolation beyond standard VMware virtualization.

Virtustream xStream is optimized to deliver performance and availability SLAs for mission-critical applications. In addition, all Virtustream optimizations for VMware can be consumed via public cloud through Virtustream’s IaaS or via private cloud through Virtustream’s xStream Cloud Management software. xStream also provides simplified management of private, public or hybrid cloud environments and has enhanced capabilities that include service catalog, multi-tenancy, multi-site, security, GRC (Governance, Risk and Compliance) and chargeback features.

Enabling the SDDC is about finding the right balance between cost efficiency, business agility and application enablement. xStream enables optimization of existing VMware environments up to 25 percent and provides an architectural framework that enables both the software-defined data center and secure hybrid cloud. By allowing customers to leverage their existing VMware vSphere investment, xStream can optimize their environment to not only reduce additional costs, but also provide the performance enhancements needed to run mission-critical applications. Virtustream xStream is unique in the industry because it is the first secure hybrid cloud solution recognized by industry analysts, allowing customers to deploy optimized virtual applications in either a private cloud or public cloud. In addition, it provides advanced security including encryption, two-factor authentication, geo-tagging, Intel® TXT, security monitoring (SIEM), and audit and compliance reporting (GRC), all controlled through a simple operational and user interface.

Poor data quality and analytics drive down business value. In fact, Gartner estimated that the average financial impact of poor data quality on organizations is $9.7 million per year. But bad data is much more than a cost center. By eroding trust in information, analytics and the business decisions based on these, it is a serious impediment to digital transformation.
We are seeing a major migration of enterprises applications to the cloud. As cloud and business use of real time applications accelerate, legacy networks are no longer able to architecturally support cloud adoption and deliver the performance and security required by highly distributed enterprises. These outdated solutions have become more costly and complicated to implement, install, manage, and maintain.SD-WAN offers unlimited capabilities for accessing the benefits of the cloud and Internet. ...
Business professionals no longer wonder if they'll migrate to the cloud; it's now a matter of when.
