iland Offers Hybrid Cloud with VMware vCloud Connector Advanced Edition

IaaS provider offers customers faster workload transfer speeds and easy hybrid cloud management

"We've embraced every version of VMware vCloud Connector released by VMware," commented Dante Orsini, iland's SVP of Business Development as Iland announced it's leveraging VMware vCloud Connector Advanced Edition. Customers will be able to securely connect their VMware environments to iland's vCloud Powered public cloud and scale up or down according to business requirements.

The recently released vCloud Connector Advanced Edition includes Content Synchronization and Datacenter Extension - two additional features that offer significant improvements for customers leveraging iland to attain their hybrid cloud goals. Orsini observed, "We're seeing significantly more interest from customers wanting to operate in an enterprise-grade hybrid cloud environment and it's our job to ensure a smooth transition."

Content Synchronization allows users to synchronize the content of their local cloud catalog with the content in iland's public cloud to ensure a consistent user experience and adherence to corporate IT standards. As users make changes to multiple templates in their private cloud, Content Synchronization ensures that those changes are automatically updated in iland's cloud. The ability to synchronize catalogs in this way ensures that users don't have to duplicate work in their local and public cloud environments which translates into both cost and time savings.

Datacenter Extension enables virtual machines in local and public cloud environments to communicate with each other on the same network subnet. It offers faster deployment of workloads because it allows for the transfer of workloads between clouds without needing to reconfigure the network settings at the destination.

"We are pleased that iland customers are taking advantage of VMware vCloud Connector to deploy hybrid clouds in iland's cloud environment," said Geoff Waters, senior director, Cloud Service Provider Programs, VMware. "VMware vCloud Connector simplifies hybrid computing because it enables customers to bring existing applications, workloads and templates to iland's public cloud without modification while retaining the flexibility to move applications back into their own datacenter when desired."

vCloud Connector Advanced Edition makes the transfer of workloads between connected clouds fast and reliable because it compresses data, transfers it as smaller pieces and if the transfer is interrupted, allows for it to restart at the point of disruption. vCloud Connector makes it easy and convenient for customers to move workloads into iland's secure, cost-effective public cloud. Hybrid use cases include the augmenting of existing local capacity to better handle peak production times; accelerating time to market for new products; opening up new market segments with less risk; and streamlining the software development and testing process.
