BETHPAGE, N.Y., Aug. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- KEMP Technologies, Inc., leading manufacturers of affordable server load balancing and SSL acceleration solutions, announced the introduction of Agent Double IS software package for LoadMaster models LM-1500, LM-2500, and LM-3620. The software agent is intended for all Microsoft IIS server applications and available at no charge to all LoadMaster customers.
The LoadMaster Agent Double IS software resides on a server and reports back to the LoadMaster. The LoadMaster uses this information to determine how the load should be distributed. The metrics used to determine the system's load are entirely configurable by the user. In conjunction with a server, the LoadMaster can distribute traffic based on the actual server load, which can include CPU load, disk load, and other server performance metrics.
Unlike other load balancers, LoadMaster using Agent Double IS, is able to make a decision based on the server's real activity - load balancing activity as well as any other activity - which may be affecting the server's performance. The decision is not based on only what the load balancer perceives using only user criteria, which passed through the load balancer. Overall, users will realize greater server performance.
A KEMP LoadMaster determines how to best distribute load among available real servers by a variety of methods. These can include the availability of the servers as well as both active connections and connection rates to the real servers. The LoadMaster Agent Double IS reports a number, between 1 and 100, with 1 bring the most idle, and 100 being the busiest. The number is determined by the parameters specified in the configuration file. It can include only one performance metric such as CPU utilization, or be a combination of up to eight different metrics including CPU utilization, memory utilization and disk I/O.
A link to the complimentary software can be obtained by contacting KEMP Technologies directly. To utilize the LoadMaster Agent Double IS software users will need LoadMaster versions 5.1-5.7; a Windows Server 2000 or 2003, running IIS 5.0 or later and the permissions needed to setup CGI applications under IIS. Agent Double IS is currently available and shipping.
