PHOENIX, AZ -- (Marketwire) -- 03/13/13 -- Meal Master, a cloud-based menu management application designed for the food service component of healthcare facilities, today announced the launch of its service. Meal Master streamlines the food delivery process, making it more efficient and less costly for healthcare facilities. It offers an easy-to-use tablet computer system, menus and recipes, grocery lists, and information access to offsite caregivers and medical providers.
"I started the company as a way to improve the nutritional health of individuals, specifically seniors, who are living in long-term health facilities," said Clifton Dawes, CEO of Meal Master. "Because of my own personal experience with a parent in an assisted-living facility, I thought it was important to give individuals a choice of quality, attractively presented, nutritional and great tasting meals appropriate for their dietary needs."
With escalating costs in the food process area of healthcare facilities, administrators can manage all resources wisely with Meal Master. The application incorporates all the elements that contribute to providing nutritionally balanced and great tasting meals to patients while at the same time improving efficiency and cost effectiveness. Patients, caregivers and medical staff use a simple tablet computer to select meals. Meal Master provides menus for normal and specialty diets including cardiac and low sodium.
"I believe senior citizens and those whose care is managed by others, should be able to maintain a healthy and enjoyable diet which ultimately is a quality of life issue," adds Dawes. "I was disappointed with the quality of meals served to my mother and equally frustrated with my inability to be actively aware of her health which is why I developed Meal Master."
Meal Master supplies menus professionally designed by an executive chef and nutritionally balanced by a registered dietitian. All recipes are reflective of the geographic region in which the facility is located and are designed to maximize the use of fresh seasonal produce. Meal Master eliminates the use of paper tally sheets which presents a cost savings and eliminates needless and frequent errors that occur during manual information transfer.
In addition, Meal Master offers benefits to offsite caregivers by allowing them to visit the Meal Master website at any time and securely access information, including the patient's most recent meal, amount consumed, and a listing of future meal selections. If a patient is unable to be involved in meal selection, the offsite caregiver can make selections from the convenience of the Internet. Meal Master also offers a post-meal feature of value to medical providers. A staff member can note how much of the meal was consumed, which is important for assessing a patient's overall health, prescribing medication and monitoring mental or emotional health.
