CADENAS PARTsolutions Hits Record 73.9 Million Downloads of Manufacturer Content in 2012

Increased Traffic and Expanded Features Enable Manufacturers to Leverage 3D Product Configurators to Drive Sales and Build Brand Awareness

MILFORD, OH -- (Marketwire) -- 01/24/13 -- CADENAS PARTsolutions, a global provider of 3D parts catalogs and online CAD configurators for industrial manufacturers, announces record-setting stats for 2012. With more than 600 partnering component manufacturers supplying 3D data across over 50 online PARTcommunities, engineers downloaded more than 73.9 million digital parts in 2012. This represents a download volume increase of 22% over 2011. These downloads account for billions of dollars in sales revenue for industrial component parts configured through PARTsolutions technology.

CADENAS PARTsolutions currently has millions of registered engineers accessing data from 199 countries, downloading an average of 6.15 million CAD models per month, with peak months in excess of 7 million files downloaded.

"Millions of engineers and designers around the world are using our technology to simplify their design process. The proof is in the data," says Rob Zesch, President and COO of CADENAS PARTsolutions.

Average monthly downloads increased by 22% from 5.0 million per month in 2011 to 6.2 million per month in 2012. "The fact that we continue to grow is great news for our customers. Our goal is to place manufacturers' 3D CAD data in the hands of the engineers. Increased downloads create a win-win for both sides. More engineers are saving hours of design time, and up to 85% of the downloads result in a purchase for the manufacturer."

Contributing to growth in 2012 are expanded features and capabilities of the eCATALOGsolutions product offering, including a mobile app platform, Revit® BIM support, an upgraded browser viewer and new user registration and data capture capabilities.

Mobile Apps Platform
Using the CADENAS PARTsolutions mobile app platform, manufacturers of industrial components can now combine their digital product catalog, CAD models, data sheets, news, distributor locations and other essential sales info into a single app for both Apple's iOS and Google's Android powered devices.

"This marks the first mobile app offering designed specifically for industrial component manufacturers and adds a new dimension of accessibility for users," says Zesch. Mobile apps enable companies to demonstrate their commitment to cutting edge technology and give field sales reps and distributors a competitive edge.

Revit® BIM Model Support
CADENAS PARTsolutions now offers Revit® support enabling engineers and designers to access models in BIM format, which can be sourced and downloaded directly from the manufacturer. Additionally, by adding Revit® to their CAD selection options, industrial manufacturers can continue to ride the wave of BIM popularity and gain greater visibility with a larger audience.

PART2cad Direct Insert Feature
The PART2cad feature builds a bridge between the user's internet browser and CAD system to instantly open and insert a working model. This feature supports full native CAD functionality such as vendor and part numbers, mates and constraints, assembly relationships and more. Engineers can directly "test-fit" parts in their CAD system before they buy, ensuring the right fit the first time, resulting in increased purchase accuracy and customer satisfaction.

New Enhanced Viewer with Cross-Browser Support
A complete revamp of the PARTsolutions 3D CAD viewer marks the most beautiful interface and detailed viewing experience available on the web for configured 3D CAD models. The new viewer adds high resolution HD-like quality visualizations to manufacturers' embedded eCATALOG configurators. The new viewer also features expanded support for all major web browsers including Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and Apple Safari. The viewer enables users to choose their preferred web browser without compromising visual quality, performance or functionality.

User Registration Module
Expanded user registration capabilities help manufacturers better monetize their CAD configurator and more accurately measure the ROI for their eCATALOG investment. For manufacturers looking to reach out to their customers & prospects downloading their models, a "required login" feature option is available. Capturing opt-in user registration data enables companies to keep engineers informed of product news as well as access to powerful customer data with marketing lead generation benefits.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is about the digitization of physical assets including sensors, devices, machines, gateways, and the network. It creates possibilities for significant value creation and new revenue generating business models via data democratization and ubiquitous analytics across IoT networks. The explosion of data in all forms in IoT requires a more robust and broader lens in order to enable smarter timely actions and better outcomes. Business operations become the key driver of IoT applications and projects. Business operations, IT, and data scientists need advanced analytics t...
With the proliferation of connected devices underpinning new Internet of Things systems, Brandon Schulz, Director of Luxoft IoT – Retail, will be looking at the transformation of the retail customer experience in brick and mortar stores in his session at @ThingsExpo. Questions he will address include: Will beacons drop to the wayside like QR codes, or be a proximity-based profit driver? How will the customer experience change in stores of all types when everything can be instrumented and analyzed? As an area of investment, how might a retail company move towards an innovation methodolo...
As more and more data is generated from a variety of connected devices, the need to get insights from this data and predict future behavior and trends is increasingly essential for businesses. Real-time stream processing is needed in a variety of different industries such as Manufacturing, Oil and Gas, Automobile, Finance, Online Retail, Smart Grids, and Healthcare. Azure Stream Analytics is a fully managed distributed stream computation service that provides low latency, scalable processing of streaming data in the cloud with an enterprise grade SLA. It features built-in integration with Azur...
WebRTC has had a real tough three or four years, and so have those working with it. Only a few short years ago, the development world were excited about WebRTC and proclaiming how awesome it was. You might have played with the technology a couple of years ago, only to find the extra infrastructure requirements were painful to implement and poorly documented. This probably left a bitter taste in your mouth, especially when things went wrong.
As more intelligent IoT applications shift into gear, they’re merging into the ever-increasing traffic flow of the Internet. It won’t be long before we experience bottlenecks, as IoT traffic peaks during rush hours. Organizations that are unprepared will find themselves by the side of the road unable to cross back into the fast lane. As billions of new devices begin to communicate and exchange data – will your infrastructure be scalable enough to handle this new interconnected world?

Too often with compelling new technologies market participants become overly enamored with that attractiveness of the technology and neglect underlying business drivers. This tendency, what some call the “newest shiny object syndrome,” is understandable given that virtually all of us are heavily engaged in technology. But it is also mistaken. Without concrete business cases driving its deployment, IoT, like many other technologies before it, will fade into obscurity.
Consumer IoT applications provide data about the user that just doesn’t exist in traditional PC or mobile web applications. This rich data, or “context,” enables the highly personalized consumer experiences that characterize many consumer IoT apps. This same data is also providing brands with unprecedented insight into how their connected products are being used, while, at the same time, powering highly targeted engagement and marketing opportunities. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Nathan Treloar, President and COO of Bebaio, will explore examples of brands transforming their businesses by t...

For IoT to grow as quickly as analyst firms’ project, a lot is going to fall on developers to quickly bring applications to market. But the lack of a standard development platform threatens to slow growth and make application development more time consuming and costly, much like we’ve seen in the mobile space. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Mike Weiner, Product Manager of the Omega DevCloud with KORE Telematics Inc., discussed the evolving requirements for developers as IoT matures and conducted a live demonstration of how quickly application development can happen when the need to comply wit...

The Internet of Things is not only adding billions of sensors and billions of terabytes to the Internet. It is also forcing a fundamental change in the way we envision Information Technology. For the first time, more data is being created by devices at the edge of the Internet rather than from centralized systems. What does this mean for today's IT professional? In this Power Panel at @ThingsExpo, moderated by Conference Chair Roger Strukhoff, panelists addressed this very serious issue of profound change in the industry.
