BALTIMORE, Jan. 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Hopkins Medical Products now offers a state-of-the-art Portable Wireless Wheelchair Scale with a 1200lb capacity. It is the first easily portable wheelchair scale in the United States that allows clinicians to go to the patient, saving unnecessary and expensive patient transportation costs. The 1200lb capacity of the scale makes it an ideal weight measurement solution for bariatric applications.

The new Portable Wireless Wheelchair Scale from Hopkins Medical Products uses four small sensor pads, each weighing less than 3 lbs. A weighing pad is placed in front of each wheel of the chair and then the chair is pushed onto the pads. Patient weight is immediately displayed and stored on the wireless controller, all without compromising patient comfort or stability. Weight data can be downloaded from the controller to a PC or laptop via a mini-USB cable.
"Our new portable wheelchair scale is a revolutionary solution for healthcare professionals who struggle to get accurate weight measurements for their wheelchair- and bed-bound patients," said C. Louis Klug III, Vice President and General Manager at Hopkins Medical Products. "Instead of transporting an unwieldy plate-based scale between patients – or transporting patients to healthcare facilities to be weighed – now healthcare professionals can easily carry a wheelchair scale that will ensure accurate weight measurement and improve patient care. In addition to the appreciable improvement in quality of life for bariatric patients, the scale also reduces costly transportation expenses for both patients and care givers."
All of the components of the scale fit securely in the compact roll-behind hard-shell carrying case that is included with the scale. All batteries for the scale are also included and the energy efficient design of the scale guarantees a minimum battery life of one year. The Portable Wireless Wheelchair Scale (#681204) is designed and manufactured in the USA and comes with a Hopkins 3-year warranty.
