WASHINGTON, Jan. 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Family Online Safety Institute (FOSI) announced today that Trend Micro has become the latest member of the global FOSI family. Trend Micro develops Internet content security and threat management solutions that make the world safe for businesses and consumers to exchange digital information.
Like FOSI, Trend Micro is committed to promoting socially responsible corporate and digital citizenship. The Trend Micro Internet Safety for Kids and Families program was founded five years ago to enable and empower kids, parents, teachers, and schools around the world to make the Internet a safe and secure place for today's youth, providing them with the tools and information they need to make responsible online decisions.
"We feel that Trend Micro and FOSI share a similar set of values," said Stephen Balkam, CEO of FOSI. "We are looking forward to exchanging new ideas with Trend Micro on how to make the most of the Internet for the younger generation. The commitment Trend Micro has made to promoting safe online behavior reminds us of the unlocked potential of the Internet for kids and how we can work together to make the next generation more digitally aware."
"Trend Micro shares FOSI's commitment in making the Internet a safe and productive place for our youth," said Lynette Owens, the global director of Trend Micro Internet Safety for Kids & Families and newest FOSI board member. "We believe that digital citizenship must start at home, which is why we continue to support and partner with organizations like FOSI. Together, we can help raise awareness and reach more families with the resources they need to encourage the positive use of technology."
