CHICAGO, IL -- (Marketwire) -- 01/10/13 -- Chicago home remodeling and replacement windows contractors Best Windows, Inc. is pleased to announce a revision of The Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization, and Job Creation Act of 2010, which has retroactively renewed the non-business energy property tax credit for energy-efficient windows installed in 2012, as well as those installed throughout 2013, for homeowners who install specific energy-efficient improvements to their principal residences in the United States.
The amount of the tax credit is still 10 percent of the cost of building improvements, not including labor costs, with a cap of $200 for exterior windows, including storm windows and skylights. Windows must have the expectation of lasting at least five years, which a two-year warranty will appropriately demonstrate. If the windows have been replaced in conjunction with new patio doors, the homeowner can receive up to $500.
To receive the credit, homeowners who have updated their Chicago windows with eligible energy-efficient windows, storm windows, skylights, and patio doors will be required to file IRS Form 5695 (http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f5695.pdf) with their taxes. Additionally, they will need to keep receipts or other documentation proving that they made the improvements, as well as a copy of the manufacturer's certification.
Best Windows, Inc. is a highly-respected Chicago contracting company, specializing in windows, home remodeling, roofing, siding, decks, and patios. Best Windows, Inc. has received the Better Business Bureau's A+ rating with zero complaints and over 15,000 windows installed, as well as Angie's List's Super Service award for both 2011 and 2012.
Best Windows is the largest Illinois dealer of energy-efficient and tax-credit eligible Serious Windows, using Serious Windows for 90% of their Chicago replacement windows jobs. They have been named Serious Windows' dealer of the year for the past three years.
Customers seeking energy-efficient, tax-credit eligible Serious Windows and patio doors are encouraged to contact Best Windows, Inc., where they deal directly with owner John Wrzesinski for a free, no-pressure or "tonight only" pricing estimate.
