WASHINGTON, Jan. 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- W. Aaron Hawthorne was promoted to Managing Director in the Washington, D.C. office of WTAS after seven years of service with the Private Client Services Practice. Hawthorne has over 15 years of experience in the tax industry. His primary areas of expertise include family wealth planning as well as cross-border compliance and planning. Before joining WTAS, he spent five years in the personal financial services group of an international professional services firm in the Washington, D.C. region. He also practiced law for over three years with a mid-size law firm in Savannah, Georgia.

Hawthorne has lectured at ABA tax conferences and has many contacts in the legal community. Aaron was the previous Editor of the State Bar of Georgia, Taxation Section's Newsletter. He is currently active with many volunteer organizations including the Fairfax County Foster Care Parent's Association.

In addition to Hawthorne, Mary McCormick, who accumulated over eight years of experience in the WTAS Investment Consulting Practice has been promoted to Director. McCormick has significant experience in investment consulting services for high net worth individuals, families, trusts and foundations.

The Washington, D.C. office of WTAS, located in McLean, Virginia announced a total of four promotions. Other promotions include Manager John "J" Bartlett and Senior Associate Jamison Thiel.
Firmwide, WTAS promoted a total of 51 employees this January including four Managing Directors, 12 Directors, 6 Sr. Managers, 13 Managers and 16 Sr. Associates.
