CHICAGO, IL -- (Marketwire) -- 12/26/12 -- Spectrem Group announced today that its Spectrem Affluent Investor Confidence Index (SAICI®) gained four points to -9, while the Spectrem Millionaire Investor Confidence Index (SMICI®) also gained four points from the previous month to -2.
The Indexes measure the investment confidence and outlook of households with $500,000 or more in net worth.
"The gains in both Indexes come amidst continued uncertainty over the fiscal cliff, suggesting that this is an investor mindset course correction from last month, which saw a dramatic drop in confidence following the election," said George H. Walper, Jr., President of Spectrem Group. "The recent rally in the stock market seems to have offset other economic concerns. But it is worth nothing that, according to our survey of Affluent investors, the partisan political climate is considered to be the most serious threat to achieving their households' financial goals at this time."
The Spectrem Affluent Household Outlook, a survey of Affluent attitudes toward financial factors that impact their daily lives, remained in negative territory in December, but it improved to its highest reading since September. Millionaire confidence in such factors as household assets drove the overall gain.
