Red Hat Tuesday pushed out a beta of Enterprise Linux 6.4 equipped with features to interoperate with Microsoft including integration with Redmond's Active Directory to make identity management easier in environments with both RHEL and Windows. RHEL is also supposed to be a better behaved guest operating system on Microsoft's Hyper-V virtualization platform. Para-virtualization support was added for both Hyper-V and VMware. Red Hat updated its drivers for VMware's ESX virtualization too. Red Hat's Evolution e-mail client more closely integrates with Microsoft Outlook, which is supposed to make syncing calendars between the two easier. A new Parallel NFS network file system, although still unsupported, adds I/O speed improvements, particularly for high-intensity workloads like databases. The widgetry can now support 512 tape drives. Figure the thing will go gold in Q1 followed by a public beta of RHEL 7 that'll include Red Hat on ARM.
