Pocket Gems is expanding into mobile publishing to help developers bring their games to iOS and Android devices worldwide. Pocket Gems Publishing will provide partners with the marketing expertise to ensure a successful launch, promotion to find and attract loyal users, customized game design and product advice, and QA support. Pocket Gems is kicking off its publishing business with its first partners including dreamfab, Twyngo and WeRPlay. dreamfab’s Chasing Yello is the first title, launching worldwide next week on Google play and coming soon to Amazon Appstore.
“We’ve built out playbooks, processes, and technology to help our own games find and delight users while staying in the top grossing charts,” said Ben Liu, CEO of Pocket Gems. “We want to share our expertise with the most talented developers so that they can focus on what they love most – making great games.”
The first title to be released under Pocket Gems Publishing, Chasing Yello from dreamfab, lets you tilt and swipe to guide the titular goldfish, Yello, through obstacles like logs, rocks and piranhas as he tries to evade the net of his owner, Matilda. Chasing Yello had an extremely successful launch on iOS this summer with more than 4.5 million installs.
”Pocket Gems has helped us optimize for monetization and QA on Android, which we could never have done on our own,” said Christian Dickert, creative director, dreamfab. “It has been a fantastic experience from the beginning, and we’re looking forward to a long partnership.”
Pocket Gems has also partnered with Twyngo to publish the developer’s first title, Amazing Ants, coming to iOS later this month. In Amazing Ants, players help the ants collect fruit by solving puzzles with powers and objects like boosts to make the ants jump, bubbles that enable ants to float, and rope that creates bouncy paths for the ants to walk upon.
“As we began working closely with the Pocket Gems team, it became apparent that we share the same desire to create quality games with high user satisfaction instead of quickly churning out game after game thoughtlessly,” said Unni Narayanan, CEO, Twyngo. “Pocket Gems also understands the value of customer retention and longer term monetization strategies, which is what initially attracted us to this partnership.”
Pocket Gems is working with WeRPlay to publish the developer’s next title, Robo Quest (working title). Coming next year to iOS, the game features endless shooting mayhem with crazy machines, insane guns, and awesome powerups.
“Our experience working with Pocket Gems has been terrific, and it’s nice to know that we’re on the same page,” said Moshin Afzal, CEO, WeRPlay. “They’ve given us independent freedom, but are never afraid to suggest updates and features.”
