- Expo Build China 2013 – China's Leading Exhibition for Premium Building Materials, is scheduled to take place from 1-3 April 2013 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre.
SHANGHAI, Dec. 4, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- China is the world's largest producer and consumer of building materials, as well as representing a new market for those who engage in sustainable building. The USD$1,700 billion construction market is forecast to grow at an 8.5% CAGR, or RMB 30 trillion, by 2020. The retrofitting market is expected to increase by more than 1,000%. All of the world can see the buying and consumption power of China's building and design market.
As one of the largest premium comprehensive building trade shows in China, Expo Build China (www.expobuild.com) has built up its reputation through 21 years of experience in the building industry, and has served as a gateway for investors and traders who want to approach the rapidly growing Chinese market. Expo Build China is organised by UBM Sinoexpo and supported by the Architectural Society of China and the China Institute of Interior Design. A great variety of high-tech building materials, innovative technologies and designs will be showcased at Expo Build China from 1-3 April 2013 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. As part of the international hospitality show, HDD Expo, it is estimated that Expo Build China will attract the participation of over 400 exhibitors and 40,000 visitors.
With the strong support of timber industry associations such as European Wood, the American Hardwood Export Council, French Timber and Canada Wood, a special themed zone featuring wooden products and timber buildings will be set up alongside the main event. A series of influential timber industry forums will accompany this event, which will not only host talks on optimising the commercial value of wooden products in China, but will also serve as an important platform for exchanges among architects, designers, developers, traders and manufacturers.
Based on its successful debut in 2012, the second edition of Ecobuild China, which is derived from the world's largest green building and new energy trade fair – Ecobuild in London – will be concurrently held at Expo Build China 2013 in the form of a United Kingdom pavilion and a "green building" pavilion. It will combine the latest innovative technologies and products in sustainable architectural design with a host of cutting-edge conferences, as well as team thought-leadership and practical application featuring suppliers of products and solutions for sustainable buildings and green technologies. A large academic delegation from the United Kingdom such as the British Research Establishment (BRE), the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) will provide high-level debates on topics such as "transforming low carbon construction into reality", as well as promoting building information modeling (BIM), BRE Environmental Assessment Methods (BREEAM), and so on. More than 30 leading industry experts from across the world will be invited to attend the debates, which will cover the most pertinent issues faced by the region and the industry.
In addition, the Hotel Plus – Mockup Hotel Room Show will be another highlight at Expo Build China 2013. It is being co-organised by the China Tourist Hotels Association and the Alliance of China Hotel Owners. The Hotel Plus show is devoted to demonstrating the most cutting-edge decorative art and material technologies in hotel space design by setting up six demonstration suites in hotel guest rooms on-site, and the total exhibition area will be over 1,000 sq m. Leading domestic and international hotel management groups such as Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG), Greenland International Hotels Group, Wanda Hotels & Resorts, BTG-Jianguo Hotels & Resort Group, and New Century Hotels & Resort Group will all be involved with Hotel Plus, as well as Well Tech Studio from Italy.
A host of other events will be held alongside Expo Build China 2013, such as the Shanghai International Interior Design Festival (www.design-festival.net) organised by the China National Interior Decoration Association. A series of design forums, trend releases, and design award ceremonies will ensure rich cutting-edge content including international and multi-cultural exchanges, technology revolutions in the design industry and real business practices. These high-end talks on design culture will feature an unparalleled line-up of speakers, and especially well-known forward-thinking designers. Through communication, sharing and learning, you will not only refresh your views, but also benefit from the interesting networking opportunities.

Wearable devices have come of age. The primary applications of wearables so far have been "the Quantified Self" or the tracking of one's fitness and health status. We propose the evolution of wearables into social and emotional communication devices. Our BE(tm) sensor uses light to visualize the skin conductance response. Our sensors are very inexpensive and can be massively distributed to audiences or groups of any size, in order to gauge reactions to performances, video, or any kind of presentation. In her session at @ThingsExpo, Jocelyn Scheirer, CEO & Founder of Bionolux, will discuss ho...

Cloud data governance was previously an avoided function when cloud deployments were relatively small. With the rapid adoption in public cloud – both rogue and sanctioned, it’s not uncommon to find regulated data dumped into public cloud and unprotected. This is why enterprises and cloud providers alike need to embrace a cloud data governance function and map policies, processes and technology controls accordingly. In her session at 15th Cloud Expo, Evelyn de Souza, Data Privacy and Compliance Strategy Leader at Cisco Systems, will focus on how to set up a cloud data governance program and s...

Every innovation or invention was originally a daydream. You like to imagine a “what-if” scenario. And with all the attention being paid to the so-called Internet of Things (IoT) you don’t have to stretch the imagination too much to see how this may impact commercial and homeowners insurance. We’re beyond the point of accepting this as a leap of faith. The groundwork is laid. Now it’s just a matter of time. We can thank the inventors of smart thermostats for developing a practical business application that everyone can relate to. Gone are the salad days of smart home apps, the early chalkb...

We certainly live in interesting technological times. And no more interesting than the current competing IoT standards for connectivity. Various standards bodies, approaches, and ecosystems are vying for mindshare and positioning for a competitive edge. It is clear that when the dust settles, we will have new protocols, evolved protocols, that will change the way we interact with devices and infrastructure. We will also have evolved web protocols, like HTTP/2, that will be changing the very core of our infrastructures. At the same time, we have old approaches made new again like micro-services...
