QUINCY, MA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/29/12 -- Dr. Steven A. Nielsen, a board-certified Boston eye doctor, is committed to providing the best medical care while maintaining a leadership position in ophthalmology. In order to achieve this mission, Dr. Nielsen is continually involved in eye care clinical research trials that assist in the discovery and delivery of new medicines, therapies, and technology to the eye care community. These trials pertain to a range of research topics such as glaucoma, antibiotics, allergies, novel therapies for dry eye, diabetic retinopathy, cataracts (multi-focal and toric intraocular lenses), and refractive technologies.
Dr. Nielsen engages in this ongoing research as part of his commitment to advance the quality of patient care and decrease the impact of eye diseases and impairments. By staying at the innovative front of eye health and participating in the advancement of surgical procedures, new devices, lenses, and therapies, Dr. Nielsen is able to offer his patients cutting-edge technology and state-of-the-art care. His goal is to continue to offer new therapies and help advance care for future generations at the Nielsen Eye Center, his Boston LASIK practice.
According to Dr. Nielsen, population growth in conjunction with increased life expectancy has amplified the need for improved eye care and vision correction procedures such as laser eye surgery and cataract surgery. Dr. Nielsen believes healthy eyesight is critical to a good quality of life. There are diseases such as glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy that continue to deprive people of their eyesight and his hope is that through assisting the advancement of these therapies, he can help prevent those losses. Dr. Nielsen is currently conducting a study on cataracts to help eliminate the difficulties in driving, reading a computer screen, color distinction, and seeing at night caused by blurry vision. He also has several other clinical research studies being conducted at his practice including glaucoma, cataracts, and diabetic retinopathy.
