CertiVox, a leading provider of web 2.0 security services, today announced that it has expanded and strengthened its Board, with the appointment of two new Non-Executive Directors, each with extensive experience in accelerating small business growth, Pieter Knook and Richard Turner.
Pieter Knook brings a wealth of technical, commercial and academic expertise to the Board. He holds Chairman, advisory and non-executive positions with a number of innovative businesses in the internet and mobile space. These include Pulsant, a hosting and cloud provider; Better Generation, a green technology startup; the Institution, a Swedish mobile device management company; and public companies InterDigital and Monitise.
Knook also has extensive enterprise experience, having been a member of seven different Boards at Vodafone, where he led the Vodafone Internet Services unit. Before Vodafone, Knook spent 18 years at Microsoft, becoming one of its top 25 executives, in an unusual career spanning technical, sales, marketing and business management roles. In his most recent role, he drove an embryonic startup to grow its revenues by more than 40% a year.
Multilingual, Cambridge-educated Knook is also a Visiting Professor in Innovation at the Engineering Department in that University.
Richard Turner comes to CertiVox after nearly a decade of Board-level appointments in Europe, Asia, the Pacific Region and the United States. These included an extensive career at RSA, where he held positions including Vice President EMEA & Asia Pacific and Vice President Worldwide Channels.
Most recently, Richard spent four years as Chief Executive of Clearswift Ltd, one of the largest Security Software firms in the UK. Under his leadership, Clearswift was transformed into a profitable business with strong recurring revenues and high customer retention rates. He delivered successive years of increased earnings and significant revenue growth from the company’s line of Secure Gateway products.
Richard’s particular areas of expertise are in business transformation/acceleration, distribution strategy and geographic market expansion/entry. His skills were publicly recognised in 2011, when he was awarded “Highly Commended” status in the CEO of the Year Category at that year’s SC Magazine Awards.
Brian Spector, CEO of CertiVox, said: “I can’t express how excited and proud I am that Pieter and Richard, with their proven expertise, have decided to join our already dynamic and innovative Board. As CertiVox’s renown grows, our revenue opportunities grow with it; Pieter and Richard are absolutely the right guys to help us drive our strategy, product offerings and customer development to ensure that we deliver on these opportunities. I can’t think of anyone who would be a better fit for this role.”
Al Sisto, Executive Chairman, said: “The expansion and strengthening of our Board is an important move for a ground-breaking business. CertiVox is moving forward into its next stage of development and Pieter and Richard bring the incremental expertise that we will leverage to make the leap. I am looking forward to working with them.”
