CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwire - November 20, 2012) - ArtBarcs, LLC announces the launch of ArtBarcs.com (www.artbarcs.com), a sophisticated technology solution that showcases a curated collection of fine art by over six hundred living artists from five continents. Creating a digital bridge between patrons and artists, ArtBarcs utilizes a patent-pending A.R.T. (Art Recommendation Technology) algorithm that "learns" what collectors are drawn to and then filters and suggests artworks that appeal to each individual.
"The ArtBarcs functionality distills art appreciation to its purest form -- what delights each viewer," says ArtBarcs co-founder Russ W. Rosenzweig. "What's more, ArtBarcs also introduces the efficiency and fun of digital technology to the art market by offering an engaging way for art lovers to pinpoint and ultimately collect fine art that intrigues their individual visual instincts."
ArtBarcs founder, CEO and Chief Curator Lucy Q. Liu adds, "Our hope is to complement the traditional art-buying process by creating immediate, personal connections between the viewer and the art through a more approachable and comprehensible fine art collection."
Emerging and established artists are more efficiently connected with a large global audience of patrons who view the artwork and vote their preferences by "loving" certain pieces. In five or six clicks, the proprietary ArtBarcs A.R.T. algorithm begins to understand and decode each patron's individual taste.
As chief curator, Ms. Liu works with an in-house curatorial team, who spent the past three years conducting a multi-channeled exploration process, including online research, referrals from art critics, art fair visits and studio appointments all over the world to select a thematically-consistent collection. From there, ArtBarcs utilizes an internal, multi-stage juried process in which each artist and piece is individually accepted -- ensuring a high amount of diversity. ArtBarcs currently offers a handpicked selection of approximately 4,000 individual pieces that includes one-of-a-kind, two-dimensional paintings.
"As a patron, you get breadth, depth and efficiency, a team of professionals who are knowledgeable and fun to work with, and pricing that puts fine art in everyone's reach," says Liu. She adds that their corporate clients and institutions can also opt to lease or rent entire collections rather than purchase the works.
ArtBarcs.com is the latest offering from an organization that has spent years supporting the arts. Husband-wife entrepreneurs Mr. Rosenzweig and Ms. Liu each bring a unique and complementary set of experience and skills to this endeavor. Their story is one in which art, technology and entrepreneurship intersect. Dedicated philanthropists and champions of the arts, as well as visual and musical artists themselves, they created the Florsheim Mansion Artist in Residency program in 2008, bringing in artists from all over the globe and creating a world-class art collection at the couple's home, the architecturally-significant Florsheim Mansion in Chicago. In an effort to share their enthusiasm for art and gain greater recognition for their global cadre of artists, Ms. Liu and Mr. Rosenzweig launched ArtBarcs.
