MELBOURNE, Australia, Nov. 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Growing demand for English testing in Egypt has seen IDP Education open its first testing centre for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) in the nation's capital of Cairo.
The IDP Education office in Cairo also offers advice and support services to help students select the best options to study abroad. IDP student advisors assist with visa applications, test applications and enrolment with a university in the UK, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
In addition to the new Cairo office, IDP Education is responding to demand for its trusted services across the Middle East with new IELTS test centres in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman, Libya, Jordan and Azerbaijan.
Maher El Bakry, Middle East Regional Director for IDP Education, said more Egyptian people are looking to gain an international qualification or increase their employability in English-speaking countries.
"Many people registering for IELTS in Egypt are students seeking to study or work in countries such as the United Kingdom and even as far afield as the USA and Canada," Mr El Bakry said.
"IDP Education's new IELTS test centre in Cairo will allow more people to achieve their ambitions. In addition to registering for their IELTS test, students and their parents who visit the IDP office can benefit from the advice of our student advisors to help them plan and prepare for their studies abroad.
"Over the past 40 years, IDP has built strong relationships with universities in the USA, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. In fact, IDP Education is part-owned by 38 universities in Australia."
Future IELTS test takers are invited to register for a free IELTS Masterclass in Heliopolis, Cairo from 7pm to 9pm on Friday 23 November at the Heliopolis campus of the prestigious Arab Academy of Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT). As an institution with the international status suited to an international English test, AASTMT will also be the IELTS test location for IDP in Cairo.
"The IELTS Masterclass will help people improve their understanding of IELTS assessment criteria. The Masterclass also provides insights into the common mistakes people make when preparing for the test," Mr El Bakry said.
IELTS Masterclasses hosted by IDP Education in other parts of the world have attracted thousands of attendees in recent months.
"Test takers tell us they have a stronger understanding of IELTS and higher confidence levels after attending an IELTS Masterclass," Mr El Bakry said.

Test takers can register to sit the IELTS with IDP by contacting The IDP Education office, located 601, 31 Omar Bekeir Street, 11361 Heliopolis-Horeya, Nozha, Cairo (near the military academy), Telephone: 2638 9905, email info.egypt@idp.com or visit www.middleeast.idp.com.
