LOS ANGELES, Nov. 19, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Motor Press Guild (MPG), the largest automotive media association in North America, announced today that Road & Track Editor Emeritus Thomas L. Bryant will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the annual Dean Batchelor Awards Banquet at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles on Dec. 11, 2012.
Bryant joined the Road & Track family in 1972, where he worked for 36 years, including 20 years as editor-in-chief. He retired from the magazine in 2008 and remains a prominent figure in the automotive industry. He is a member of the Motor Press Guild and, among other achievements, has been an honorary judge at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.
"Throughout his career, Tom Bryant has won the respect and admiration of countless supporters throughout the automotive world," said Laura Burstein, President, Motor Press Guild. "He embodies the tradition of excellence upon which the Dean Batchelor Awards were founded, and we are delighted to honor him for his many contributions to our industry."
In addition to the Lifetime Achievement Award, the MPG Dean Batchelor Award gala will include the presentation of Best of the Year awards to automotive journalists for works across four categories: books, articles, photographs and video. One winner from among those four will receive the Dean Batchelor Award, established in honor of the late automotive journalist who was noted for his standard of excellence in journalism.
All Motor Press Guild members and those affiliated with the automotive industry are welcome to attend. Tickets are $75 for non-members and must be purchased in advance online by Friday, Nov. 30, 2012. No tickets will be sold at the door. Attire is black-tie optional.
