Nintendo’s next console, the Wii U, launches in North America this Sunday. With the holidays coming and budgeting a must, you might be wondering: Why the heck should I care about the Wii U? Don’t I already have a Wii? The Wii U is Nintendo’s first true HD system, which is something Microsoft and Sony already have in the Xbox 360 and PS3. But what Microsoft and Sony DON’T have is the Wii U controller, which features a 7 inch screen with traditional controller buttons on either side of the display. Imagine if a Kindle Fire and an Xbox controller had a baby: that’s the Wii U controller. Its purpose is to serve as a second screen for your games, showing maps or inventory systems, but that’s not all it does. Playing a game when someone wants to watch TV? You’re able to play your games directly on your controller, no TV required. Finally… now everyone can have a screen for themselves!
