Brand Affinity Technologies (BAT), the experts in activating, engaging and monetizing the fan, today announced that Al Weiss, former President of Worldwide Operations for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, has been appointed to its Board of Directors.
Mr. Weiss brings nearly 40 years of experience expanding Walt Disney’s brand reach, including its extensive international expansion and development of its comprehensive consumer engagement offerings. As a BAT board member, he will help oversee the advancement of BAT’s proprietary fan activation platform, Fantapper (www.fantapper.com), in addition to BAT’s recent acquisition of the fan photography business of Printroom (www.printroom.com), one of the nation’s leading fan photography services platform for sporting and entertainment events. With Mr. Weiss’ strategic counsel and Printroom’s ongoing relationships with MLB, CBS Interactive and numerous NBA, NFL and NHL teams, BAT will greatly accelerate its effort to capture and amplify in-game fan experiences, both online and offline.
“I have always considered Walt Disney Parks a destination that truly demonstrates creativity and evokes imagination. Like Disney, BAT strives to deliver experiences that strongly resonate with fans, their emotions and memories of any life event, whether it’s a baseball game, concert, or family reunion,” said Ryan Steelberg, president and CEO of Brand Affinity Technologies. “This is why we are incredibly excited for Mr. Weiss to join BAT’s Board of Directors. His leadership and international expertise will play a critical role as we continue to expand our product offerings to capture and extend our customers’ celebrated life moments.”
Previously, Mr. Weiss served as President of Worldwide Operations for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, the division of The Walt Disney Company that operates eleven theme parks and multiple resort hotels across the world. Under his leadership, he was responsible for operations at the company’s theme parks and resorts spanning three continents and including the Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Resort, Hong Kong Disneyland and Disneyland Resort Paris. During his tenure he also launched the Disney Cruise Line. Mr. Weiss announced his retirement after 39 years of service with the Walt Disney Company in Nov. 2011.
“During my tenure at Disney, I worked with the best to do the impossible, while always remaining hyper-focused on providing the best guest experience. I’m drawn to BAT’s arsenal of fan engagement offerings. I believe a continuous dialog with customers results in long-term fan loyalty. I’m confident that BAT’s team will fully leverage and extend its existing products and newly acquired Printroom fan photo offerings into a unique fan experience via digital media,” said Weiss. “It’s a true pleasure to come on board to support BAT’s growth.”
Mr. Weiss joins a board of experts from a wide array of industries, including executives from startup, venture capital, technology, and entertainment companies.
