"As social networking and smart phone usage continues to experience exponential growth, we are excited to offer this cloud messaging tool to our global base of buyers. Web app messaging innovations are in high demand and this two-way SMS messaging portfolio presents a reliable solution that is mutually beneficial to the application service providers and end-users," says Dean Becker, CEO of ICAP Patent Brokerage.
Key Characteristics & Benefits
The portfolio for sale offers techniques for cloud-based two-way (send and receive) SMS text message communication between web apps and mobile devices. These application-to-person (A2P) or web-to-mobile communications can include social networking, group messaging, instant messaging, ISP services, marketing campaigns, enterprise communications, financial services, account verifications, alerting services, customer notifications, and database access among other applications.
This package includes a web-hosted SMS gateway for connecting applications to the global wireless network and transmitting messages to and from mobile devices. The portfolio offers threading means, or ways to correlate incoming messages with outgoing messages sent via SMS. Because IP-based SMS protocol does not retain any information about how the messages are related to each other, message threading is not maintained. Thus, by utilizing a pool of temporary phone numbers or short codes, the technology disclosed allows this correlation to take place, which provides the essential mechanism for threading and message history. This allows the user of the mobile device to reply to the sender of the original message since the gateway described maintains the address of the sender and matches it with the reply.
