iBasis, a KPN company, today announced that it will use the AMS-IX Inter-IPX service as part of its strategy to extend the reach of its IPX product portfolio. AMS-IX offers iBasis a secure and efficient one-stop shop to interconnect to other IPX providers and exchange voice and data services.
The open interconnect solution provided by AMS-IX allows iBasis’ customers to peer IP traffic with other mobile networks and achieve significant operational cost savings by bundling multiple services over a single, managed interconnect in one facility. The mobile services initially supported by iBasis over the AMS-IX Inter-IPX service include Premium Voice IPX, LTE signaling, GRX, and Sigtran.
AMS-IX was the first to introduce a service focused on IPX providers faced with the challenge of a future in which the distinction between mobile and fixed networking will gradually disappear. The service offers a place where regional and neighboring IPX networks can efficiently link to each other and cover more territory, content and volume. The Inter-IPX service complies with the high quality standards required by GSMA and includes an Inter-IPX SLA.
The combination of the critical mass of business partners, the stable all-IP environment, the historical success of the AMS-IX GRX service, and this new carrier grade Inter-IPX SLA option led iBasis to select the AMS-IX Inter-IPX solution. “AMS-IX not only offers us a single point where we can exchange multiple services quickly with many different mobile operators, it also gives us guaranteed end-to-end quality of service through the Inter-IPX SLA,” said Chris Lengyel, iBasis Director of Strategic Marketing and New Products.
“We are pleased that iBasis has chosen to connect to our Inter-IPX service and in this way recognizes the value of this service for its organization and end-users,” says Job Witteman, CEO of AMS-IX. “With its innovative and high level of service iBasis is a valuable addition to our Inter-IPX community.”
