Children's Book Author and Entrepreneur Renee Carter Pens First Children's Book; Launches My World Media

"Is There Really Such Thing As A Family Tree?" Celebrates the Differences That Make Each of Us Unique; Serves as Platform for Company's Mission

IRVINE, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/08/12 -- Children's author and entrepreneur Renee Carter today took the wraps off her new venture, My World Media, with the release of her first children's book -- Is There Really Such Thing As A Family Tree? -- a fun, whimsical adventure for young readers aged 4 - 99.

The book's colorful illustrations, rhyming verse and clever visual details introduce a culturally diverse cast of nine "My World Friends" characters, who take the reader on a winsome journey in search of important answers. Ultimately, the author's singsong prose and colorful illustrations set the stage for the My World Media mission: celebrating the differences that make each of us unique.

The children's story opens with the My World Friends' characters -- five girls (Brennan, Hanna, London, May and Sydney) and four boys (Pierre, Max, Carlos and Sammy) -- asking the complex question: "Is there really such thing as a family tree? What does that mean... is part of it me?" With wide-eyed wonder and perched within the branches of a larger-than-life tree, the characters begin their quest to find the answer.

From wonder (How tall is the tree? Can it touch a star?) to worry (If I fall from the tree, will I fall very far?), the book is layered with intricate details tailor-made for fresh discoveries with each read. Young readers are transported to a vibrant world-in-motion and ultimately, the discovery that each of us creates "our own family tree" filled with love.

The 41-page book is illustrated by Heidi MacDonald and Maili Rohner and is available for purchase at Amazon.com and www.MyWorldMedia.net for $16.99.

With New Book, My World Media's Mission Begins

My World Media launches with a vision of helping children and their families embrace and celebrate their differences. Through the education and exploration of relationships with other diverse and multi-cultural children, the company's founder, Renee Carter, seeks to unify and celebrate differences with the ultimate understanding that we're all the same, but we're all different.

"Our world will be a greater place when children who look, feel or are perceived as different feel like they can, and should, talk openly about their feelings," said My World Media CEO Renee Carter. "As an adult, it's quite clear that the large majority of our 'baggage' was packed during childhood. Perhaps through acceptance and unity we can lighten the load for the future leaders of our planet."

The My World Media website also launches today, introducing young children to the My World Friends characters and giving them a pledge to take. The website will continue to add activities, experiences and unique content for children. The next children's book, Who Do I Look Like, which addresses identity in mixed families, will be published in 2013.
