Pervasive Software® Inc. (NASDAQ: PVSW), a global leader in cloud-based and on-premises data innovation, today announced the release of Pervasive PSQL™ Vx Server 11, the ‘hypervisor-friendly’ edition of Pervasive PSQL v11 designed for customers who need support for highly virtualized environments enabling live migration, fault tolerance, high availability and cloud computing.
“As a Systems Integrator who has already invested heavily in virtual environments with VMware vSphere, we are excited about this new edition of Pervasive’s tried-and-true embeddable database,” said Jean-Pierre Clauws, general manager of Integrated Quality Networks. “Pervasive PSQL Vx enables us and our customers to fully realize the cost savings and operational benefits of running in a virtual environment.”
Key features of the new edition include:
- Expanded support for VMware, Microsoft and Citrix hypervisor platforms
- Live migration support, allowing virtualized Pervasive PSQL instances to move easily from one physical machine to another
- Improved license management ensuring that Pervasive PSQL Vx authorization and validation happens in accord with the hypervisor’s configuration
- Flexible deployment licenses allowing multiple instances of Pervasive PSQL Vx to coexist in a single environment
- Hosting-friendly licensing that embraces various software “as a service” models
“More and more of our customers are running virtualized instances of Pervasive PSQL in development, test and production environments as the adoption of cloud technology based on the utilization of virtualized environments increases,” said Gilbert Van Cutsem, general manager, Pervasive Database Products. “For our customers, this release ensures that Pervasive PSQL Vx has been extensively tested to ensure reliable operation under fully loaded conditions and is optimized for long-term investment in virtualization technology.”
“The introduction of Pervasive PSQL Vx is a smart move,” said Robin Bloor, chief analyst and principal, The Bloor Group. “The cloud is an attractive prospect for most organizations, whether IT users or ISVs. Pervasive Software has thought deeply about this and has worked hard to make its products cloud-ready and cloud-aware. Pervasive PSQL Vx is a good fit for those ISVs, OEMs and IT users who wish to implement a considered and orderly migration to the cloud.”
