Mimosa Systems and Navigant Consulting Announce Strategic Partnership for eDiscovery

Mimosa and Navigant to Deliver Integrated On-Premise and Cloud-Based Content Repository to Reduce eDiscovery Costs and Risk

NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 02/01/10 -- LEGALTECH CONFERENCE -- Mimosa Systems, the leader in next-generation email archiving, file archiving and SharePoint archiving solutions, and Navigant Consulting, Inc. (NYSE: NCI), a global management and litigation consulting firm, today announced a strategic partnership. Together, Mimosa and Navigant will deliver to legal counsel and law firms an integrated software solution that combines Mimosa's archiving technology with Navigant's eDiscovery Portal, which is built upon Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. This integrated solution will provide customers with greater eDiscovery controls throughout an eDiscovery event.

According to IDC, the legal discovery and litigation support infrastructure market is experiencing a 6.2 percent compound annual growth rate and is expected to reach $17.3 billion in 2013(1). "Much of this growth is being driven by stringent regulatory requirements," said Vivian Tero, program manager for IDC's GRC Infrastructure Service. "Enterprise resources are strained under the increased burden to store and handle more data as a result of a litigation event. To stay ahead of the curve organizations must adopt best practices, streamline processes, and provision comprehensive solutions to drive down management costs while minimizing risk and exposure."

The Mimosa/Navigant integrated solution pairs Navigant's advanced eDiscovery Portal, a legal hold tracking and project management information tool, with Mimosa's leading next-generation unified archiving platform to streamline ESI preservation processes and to help clients greatly reduce the cost of eDiscovery. The combined solution will enable legal and litigation support users to access the eDiscovery Portal to conduct a search of Mimosa NearPoint™ for first pass reviews and early case assessments. Legal hold management will include initiating legal holds to ESI managed by Mimosa NearPoint archives from the eDiscovery Portal.

"We continue to see several insourcing trends converging into customer demand in the marketplace," said Richard Finkelman, managing director and practice leader of Navigant Consulting's Discovery Services practice. "Intelligent archiving technologies coupled with early case assessment tools allow clients to safely preserve not just documents but all relevant data points in a project. As companies evolve their project collection and culling requirements they are increasingly asking for in-place preservation solutions. Our combined offering integrates a SharePoint platform for identifying and tracking legal holds with Mimosa, an industry leader in email, file and SharePoint archiving."

"Mimosa is pleased to be partnering with Navigant, one of the leading legal and eDiscovery consultants in the industry," said Scott Whitney, vice president product management, Mimosa Systems. "Together, we are employing our mutual expertise in the development of a joint solution to streamline eDiscovery processes for our customers, while giving them a powerful in-house solution for the proactive capture of ESI data so that they can always be ready in the event of litigation or compliance requests."

The Jevons Paradox suggests that when technological advances increase efficiency of a resource, it results in an overall increase in consumption. Writing on the increased use of coal as a result of technological improvements, 19th-century economist William Stanley Jevons found that these improvements led to the development of new ways to utilize coal. In his session at 19th Cloud Expo, Mark Thiele, Chief Strategy Officer for Apcera, compared the Jevons Paradox to modern-day enterprise IT, examin...
While the focus and objectives of IoT initiatives are many and diverse, they all share a few common attributes, and one of those is the network. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Jim Frey, Vice President of S...
