Westbrook Technologies Adds a Web Services API and Support for Virtual Servers to the Latest Release of Its Fortis Document Management Software

Company Announces Fortis Webflow, a Thin Client, Web-Based Workflow Tool Built With Fortis Web Services

BRANFORD, CT -- (Marketwire) -- 12/15/09 -- Westbrook Technologies, developer of Fortis enterprise document management (EDM) software, today announced the latest version of its flagship product, Fortis 2.4.2. Among the recent additions to Fortis is a Web Service interface that allows Fortis to take advantage of Services Oriented Architecture (SOA) methodologies. Fortis Web Services will enable Westbrook and its partners to more easily integrate Fortis with other application suites, extending the functionality of Fortis and Fortis SE.

Fortis Webflow

Fortis Webflow is an optional Web-based workflow module that Fortis users can install to manage processes that are driven by decisions/actions made by end users. These can include purchase order approvals, time off requests, invoice processing, draft approvals, engineering change orders, among others. Each decision a user makes causes a specific action or actions to occur on the document. Both decisions and actions are 100 percent definable in the Fortis Workflow designer.

Fortis Webflow can also perform advanced workflow tasks with no user interaction, such as escalations and notification, retention/scheduling, or document distribution. Fortis Webflow has a Rich Internet Application (RIA) interface, is based on Fortis Web Services and is completely thin client.

"We will continue to develop applications using the Fortis Web Services API in order to provide additional highly efficient, cost-saving solutions, such as Fortis Webflow, to our customers," said Einar Haukeland, president and CEO of Westbrook Technologies. "Our goal to give our customers easy access to their documents and related business processes via the Internet or intranet networks."

Virtual Server Support

With the release of Fortis 2.4.2, Westbrook supports the installation of Fortis in a virtual server environment, including VMware, Citrix and Microsoft Virtual Server.

Fortis 2.4.2 also now supports the following additional platforms:

-- Window Server 2008 (32-bit and 64-bit)
-- Microsoft SQL Server 2008 (32-bit and 64-bit)
-- Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express (32-bit and 64-bit)

Other enhancements to Fortis include file attachment naming for email documents, the ability to control database access via Fortis Groups, improved In Basket security, and greater LDAP support.
