Bing hasn't exactly broken Google's stranglehold on search but Microsoft's scores are inching up thanks to it.
According to comScore, Microsoft captured all of 9.1% of U.S. Internet searches the week before Bing was released, 9.1% Bing's first week out and 12.1% last week and its share of search penetration went to 16.7% last week up from 13.7% two weeks before.
Of course Google commanded 65% of all U.S. searches in May, the last full-month number. comScore uses different metrics for its monthly scores.
The New York Post, which is sometimes right, claims Google is running scared and has assembled a team under co-founder Sergey Brin to crack the Bing algorithm and work on urgent upgrades.
By the way, Wall Street bookmakers have lowered the odds on a Yahoo-Microsoft deal to a 50-50 chance.
